Worked example
A facilities contract ends 31 December, renews for 12 months and requires 90 calendar days' notice. The team records 2 October as the notice deadline, assigns Procurement as owner, reviews service issues in August, compares two alternatives, approves a renegotiation in September and keeps the supplier's written acceptance. Dates are illustrative.
Methodology
The checklist separates facts from decisions: first read the executed agreement, then record performance and cost, compare realistic options, obtain the required approval, and preserve evidence of notice. It does not interpret contract language or replace legal advice.
Questions
What should a contract renewal checklist include?
Record the term end, notice deadline, owner, annual value, usage or performance, alternatives, risks, approvals, decision and written supplier confirmation.
When should a renewal review start?
Start before the notice deadline leaves you without options. For an important annual contract, 90 to 120 days before the notice date gives time to review, compare and negotiate.
Can I save this checklist?
Yes. Check items in the browser, then use Print or save as PDF. The checkmarks are not uploaded or stored by this page.
